The President of the Cabildo of La Palma, Anselmo Pestana, accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism, Alicia Vanoostende and the team of the La Palma Film Commission office, visited this morning the film set of Netflix international series “The Witcher”, which will be shooting for two weeks in different locations on the island of La Palma with an extensive production team.

Anselmo Pestana, on behalf of the insular institution, has shown his satisfaction to Netflix and the Canarian production company Sur Film for the choice of locations on the island. “The shooting of this series is an event that is causing a considerable positive impact on the island territory, which will also be projected on tourism thanks to the outreach of the Island of La Palma on the Netflix TV platform, and confirming the so-called Isla Bonita (beautiful island) as the ideal place for shootings so that new international productions can end up here.”

Meanwhile, production company managers, who were shooting today in the forest of Los Tilos, have expressed their admiration for the great diversity and spectacular nature of the landscapes of La Palma, that hosts, for the first time, a production of this magnitude since the launching of the La Palma Film Commission office in 2015 with the aim of promoting the island territory as a film destination.

The series “The Witcher” starring actor Henry Cavill, known for his role as Superman, is based on the fantasy book series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. Cavill plays the witcher Geralt of Rivia, “a genetically modified monster hunter who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.”

The cast is completed by Freya Allen, Anya Cholatra, Eamon Farren, Joey Batey, Lars Mikkelsen, Royce Pierreson, Maciej Musial, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte and Anna Shaffer.

The series premiere is scheduled for the end of this year and a warm welcome is expected thanks to the hype created by its thousands of fans.
